Preferred Organization Plan (PPO)
What is a PPO?
A Preferred Organization Plan, or a PPO, is a health insurance plan where you can typically receive services from any doctor or hospital but often will pay less if they are part of the plan's network.
How do PPOs work?
Unlike most HMOs, most PPOs often:
- Do not require members to choose a Primary Care Physician.
- Require the member to pay a larger share of the provider’s fee for the medical service or pay an annual deductible.
- Pay doctors or hospitals a fixed price for each type of service.
